NICE Colectomy

Using robotics, our surgeons can remove the colon with just 4 8mm incisions, remvoing the specimen through the anus as a natural orifice.   This eliminates painful abdominal sutures used to close specimen extraction sites and large port sites, and reduces other complications as well, such as hernias that can form after surgery, as well as wound infections which can occur after surgery.  Many patients are discharged from the hospital the very next day after a NICE colectomy!  Dr. Olson has been using this as his routine approach to divericular disease for three years and has been able to avoid extraction incisions in 95% of cases.  His NICE procedure videos have been selected for podium presentations at both the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (ASCRS) meeting as well as the Society of Gastrointestinal Endsocopic Surgeons (SAGES) meetings, setting the technical standard.
