Colonoscopy
The Best Colon Cancer Screening.
A quality colonoscopy is a vital procedure that can vastly reduce your risk of developing colon cancer. Dr. Olson is a skilled colonoscopist who meets the two most important quality metrics you should be aware of:
Withdrawal time: This is the time spent withdrawing the scope throughout the colon and looking for polyps. The national metric is six minutes. Dr. Olson's average withdrawl time is 12 minutes, 29 seconds showing that he takes adequate time to perform the best possible examination of your colon.
Adenoma Detection Rate (ADR): This is the percentage of colonoscopies where biopsy proved adenomas (pre cancerous polyps) are removed from the colon. The national metric is 25%. Dr. Olson has an adenoma detection rate of 53%, significantly exceeding this standard. Patients who have a colonoscopy with a doctor who has a ADR less than 20% have ten times the rate of developing colon cancer--this is important information to know!
